Education in England is a website written by Derek Gillard devoted to the history of schooling in England. There are a lot of documents that are otherwise not available elsewhere on the net. A fascinating read.
Whilst writing the lines above, I thought the old world picture used by Derek on his homepage was very familiar. After a little digging I found out why. It’s definitely old but the building still exists and is now the Newhampton Arts Centre in Wolverhampton, less than a mile from home. In earlier times it was the Higher Grade School (1894 to 1921), Wolverhampton Municipal Secondary School (1921 to 1945) and the Wolverhampton Municipal Grammar School (1945 to 1974).
